The former president spoke at a rally on behalf of Vice President Harris at the University of Pittsburgh.

On Thursday evening, former President Barack Obama addressed a crowd gathered in support of the Harris-Walz campaign at Fitzgerald Field House at the University of Pittsburgh.

Obama urged attendees to vote in one of the most important elections in American history. He said, “Together we have a chance to choose a new generation of leadership in this country and start building a better and stronger and fairer America.”

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Senator Bob Casey joined the former president at the rally.  Shapiro has frequently been campaigning for Harris across the state of Pennsylvania.

Obama took the opportunity to criticize Harris’ opponent, former President Donald Trump. On the border crisis, he said, “You know what would actually help address the border and fix our immigration system: the bipartisan deal that Kamala Harris has supported, even though it’s written by one of the most conservative members of Congress. That’s the same bill that Donald Trump blocked on purpose.”

Representative Lankford of Oklahoma was criticized for working on a bipartisan bill to address the crisis at the border. In a Las Vegas speech, Trump said he opposed the bill because “If Joe Biden truly wanted to secure the border, he doesn’t really need a bill. I did it without a bill.”

At the rally, Obama issued a call to action. He said, “Do not just sit back on your couch. Get out and vote. If enough of us make our voices heard, we will leave no doubt about the election.”

As part of extensive campaigning through swing states, Harris will hold a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania on Monday.
