Harris is making an effort to target moderate voters on the campaign trail.

On Monday, Harris campaigned in Malvern, Pennsylvania with former Representative Liz Cheney.

The Democratic presidential nominee is making a play for moderate Republican voters and independents in battleground states.

Cheney and Harris engaged in a moderated conversation targeted towards Republican voters that might be willing to vote for the opposing presidential nominee in this election

Harris said that she would not seek “a continuation of the Biden administration. I bring to it my own ideas, my own experiences.”

Cheney, a member of the Republican party, endorsed Harris in September despite their policy differences. She gave her endorsement saying, “As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this. Because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris.”

Cheney voted to impeach Trump following the January 6th, 2021 attack on the Capitol. She was vice chair of the House select committee that investigated Jan 6. and received criticism from Trump and Republicans.

Harris said, “There are months in the history of our country which challenge us, each of us, to really decide when we stand for those things that we talk about, including, in particular, country over party.”
