The president deployed the National Guard to the city to restore safety. On Monday, he held a roundtable discussion on the accomplishments of the task force.

On Monday, President Trump visited Memphis to discuss the accomplishments of the Memphis Safe Task Force and discuss the ability to replicate these efforts in other major cities with rising crime.

Nearly six months ago, the president deployed the National Guard to the city to restore safety and security for residents as crime rates increased.

President Trump highlighted the work of the task force during his State of the Union address. “Starting last summer, I deployed our National Guard and federal law enforcement to restore law and order to our most dangerous cities, including Memphis, Tennessee,” he said.

“This task force will be a replica of our extraordinary successful efforts here [in D.C.] and you’ll see it’s a lot of the same thing,” the president said in the Oval Office in September when the task force was deployed to Memphis.

According to the White House, the task force has made more than 7,000 arrests in Memphis since the National Guard arrived in the city in September.

More than 3,500 warrant pickups were included in the total, as well as 700 gang members and 44 homicides.

The White House also said that the task force has seized nearly 1,200 guns.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, the task force has also located 150 missing children during its efforts.

The task force has issued 17,906 traffic citations, also according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and FBI Director Kash Patel joined President Trump for his visit to Memphis.

“In another two months, three months, I think… you’re going to be an almost crime-free city,” Trump said at the roundtable, touting a 43% crime rate reduction in Memphis.

“You have now developed a reputation as a city that’s coming back stronger than any city in the country,” the president said.

The success of the task force comes as President Trump focuses on decreasing crime rates in cities across the country.
