Event highlights include new contests, traditional events, and a special milkshake flavor.

The 109th Pennsylvania Farm Show officially opens on January 4, bringing together nearly 6,000 animals and over 12,000 competitive exhibits in a celebration of the state’s agricultural heritage.

Hosted at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, the event runs through January 11th, offering a wide variety of activities, from livestock shows to food tastings, along with new features like a mullet contest and a special milkshake flavor.

This year’s theme, “Powering Pennsylvania,” highlights the importance of agriculture to the state’s $132.5 billion industry, emphasizing both its economic impact and role in green energy. The event will showcase competitions in everything from livestock to homemade goods, with standout moments including the first turkey showmanship contest, a junior market livestock sale featuring turkeys, and a host of baking and food contests. Visitors can sample creations like honey-sweetened ice cream, baked potatoes, and the famous PA dairy milkshakes, with a mint flavor debuting this year.

Among the Farm Show’s entertaining traditions, attendees can look forward to horse pulls, square dancing, and the high school rodeo, as well as quirky new additions like rabbit hopping and a live line farm safety demonstration.
