Garrity, Pennsylvania’s State Treasurer, was accused by Democrats of voting for the bill even though she is not in Congress.

In a recent fundraising email, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party referred to the state’s treasurer, Stacy Garrity, as a member of Congress.

Garrity, a Republican, has been rumored to be planning a run for Governor in 2026.

The email was sent on Sunday to a list of potential donors and was signed off by Mich Kate, the state party’s executive director.

The email said, “[Recipient’s name], Let’s play Two Truths & a Lie.”

The email listed the following three statements as part of the game:

  1. “Trump banned unions in federal agencies in an April Executive Order
  2. Rep. Bresnahan sold his stocks in the biggest provider for Medicaid right before he voted to rip Medicaid away from 17 million Americans
  3. Rep. Garrity voted for Trump’s Big Bullshit Bill that eliminates energy tax credits, killing our economic growth in Western PA and beyond.”

The email continued, “every goddamn bullet point was a TRUTH.” The party asked for donations before adding, “We can’t make this shit up.”

It turned out there was a lie included in the list.

Stacy Garrity, the state’s treasurer, is not a Member of Congress. She did not vote for the bill.

Garrity reacted to being mistakenly mentioned in the email, writing on social media, “Who wants to tell them? 😂”

She shared a screenshot of the fundraising email and said, “Do better, @PADems. 🤡”

Pennsylvania Democrats responded on Monday. They acknowledged the mistake sent in their fundraising email, then thanked Garrity “for giving us the opportunity to remind everyone that you’re 100% in lockstep with gutting Medicaid for millions of Americans to bail out billionaires! 🤡”

Garrity has publicly teased a gubernatorial run of her own in 2026. She is expected to announce her candidacy in the coming weeks and has the support of Republican Party leaders in Pennsylvania.
