Former President Trump announced the debate location on his TruthSocial account.

On Saturday, former President Trump announced that his first debate with Vice President Harris will take place on September 4, 2024, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A specific time and location have not yet been announced. He also shared that he’s agreed to two more debates: one in Philadelphia on September 10th with ABC and the other in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 25th with NBC.

On Sunday, the Harris campaign pushed back, saying the only debate they’ve agreed to is the September 10th date. Last week, the Harris campaign accused the former President of trying to back out of the September 10 debate with ABC, which was originally agreed to when President Biden was still running.

Having two Presidential debates in Pennsylvania is a testament to the importance of the state’s electoral votes. This year especially, Pennsylvania could be the deciding state. It has the highest Jewish population of all swing states, with roughly 300,000 voting-aged Jews. President Biden won Pennsylvania by around 80,000 votes in 2020.

The debate between Trump and Biden in June covered top of mind issues like immigration, foreign policy, and the economy. Now that Harris is the Democratic nominee, it’s expected to hear about those issues again, as well as issues important to Pennsylvania like energy and agriculture. Harris’s stance on fracking could come up, as well as her handling of the border in the Biden administration.
